Please read and observe our policy before continuing your adoption request to ensure the adoption process continues fast and efficiently

To ensure our guinea pigs are going to the best home possible for their needs a home check will be carried out in all cases and an adoption form will need to be completed for our records. We also require a donation for each guinea pig as we are a self funded organisation to help with our ongoing costs - such as vet bills, food, bedding, cages and accessories. Our minimum donation amounts are

£10 per Sow

£10 per Boar (Un neutered)

£20 per Neutered Boar - this goes towards the cost of neutering and the 6 week aftercare, this by all means does not cover the full amount.

£25 per Neutered Boar and Single Sow pairing

·   We will not rehome any guinea pig to be used for breeding purposes or to live with a rabbit in any case. Guinea pigs and rabbits need completely different nutritional requirements and a single kick from a rabbit could seriously injure if not kill a guinea pig.

·    The minimum cage or outdoor hutch size is 48"x 24" or 120cm x 60cm, although bigger is much better. Daily exercise must also be given whether out in the garden in a run or floor time in the home.

·    We will not rehome a guinea pig to live alone they are social animals and must live as a pair or herd.

·    We will not rehome any guinea pig to be bred from or used for showing. Many of our pigs have come in from traumatic backgrounds and need a stress free life for the rest of their days.

·    Guinea pigs are to be housed in same sex pairs/herds unless the boar is neutered or sows spayed.

·    Guinea pigs are to be reserved or adopted by the family adopting the guinea pig, not to be reserved by friends.

·    If for any reason you cannot continue to care for the adopted pigs then they must return to Becklen Rescue

·    If reserved guinea pigs for any reason cannot be collected within a suitable time then we do require a donation at the time of reserving. We unfortunately have had to add this as we were holding pigs for sometimes up to weeks to then be let down.
